Overview
Located in the New Orleans office Andrew W. Deaton specializes in maritime and personal injury defense litigation, focusing on Defense Base Act (DBA) litigation.
Andrew’s practice spans all phases of civil litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and case strategy. He regularly drafts motions for summary judgment and manages discovery from inception through resolution. He has experience researching and writing on matters related to insurance defense, admiralty, maritime, energy, and offshore litigation, including the handling of claims under the Jones Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA), and Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA).
Andrew received his Juris Doctor at Tulane University Law School as a recipient of the Maritime Law Certificate, after a year at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. A highlight of his law school career was serving as managing editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal.
Andrew represents employers and insurers in complex maritime matters pending in federal and state courts in Louisiana and Texas.
Outside the Office
In his free time, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and his dog Eli. Andrew also enjoys supporting his favorite sports teams such as the Tennessee Volunteers, Memphis Grizzlies, and the New Orleans Saints.
