As a member of the editorial board and peer-review committee for the book, Sharpe contributed the Foreword and edited the book’s eighth chapter, which was authored by attorney Douglas Truxillo and titled “Contracts, Charter Parties, Towing, and Pilotage.”
In the Foreword, Sharpe explains that the 2019 edition updates the initial edition, published in March 1984, which is now out of print and, thanks to intervening developments in maritime law, out of date. “Why this update after 35 years?” Sharpe asks, before answering his own rhetorical question: “It may surprise non-maritime lawyers how much the law of damages recoverable in maritime matters remains in flux.”
Sharpe’s fellow AMLC contributors will present a seminar highlighting the publication and its contents at the United States 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco on August 8, 2019. More information about the book and seminar is available here.
This is the latest publication contribution for Sharpe, who travels regularly to speak about admiralty and maritime issues and has served as a co-author and editor for a host of admiralty and maritime publications.
