Overview

Samuel (Sam) J. Riccardi is an Associate in the New Orleans office focusing on Maritime Law. Prior to joining Lugenbuhl, he gained valuable experience as a Judicial Intern for Hon. Meredith S. Grabill at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Orleans. In this role, he drafted opinions and bench memos on various bankruptcy matters and attended hearings on Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases. Additionally, he has experience in researching issues related to toxic tort, insurance, contracts, and maritime law, as well as participation in depositions, mediations, and state court hearings.

During his time at Tulane University Law School, Sam wrote comment on stateless vessel jurisdiction under the Maritime Drug Law Enforcement Act for the Tulane Maritime Law Journal. He also contributed case note on intangible assets as appurtenances under the Limitation of Liability Act.  Prior to law school, Sam earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Southern California in May 2020, and also completed a semester of Political Science and Law coursework at the University of Florence in Italy in 2019.

Passionate about serving his community, Sam’s pro bono work includes serving as a Volunteer Tax Preparer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in New Orleans. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Turnaround Management Association, reflecting his commitment to professional development and networking in the legal field.

Outside the Office

Originally from the San Juan Islands in Northwest Washington State, I am a fan of nature. I love any opportunity to run, hike, or strum my guitar, but I am also just as passionate for college football!
