Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard is pleased to announce that Elia Diaz-Yaeger, a shareholder with the firm, is the recipient of the 2015 Human Rights Award from The Louisiana State Bar Association. The distinguished award recognizes an attorney’s significant contributions in promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, to ensure full and equal opportunity of all persons for entry and advancement in Louisiana’s legal environment. Ms. Diaz-Yaeger was presented with the award at the LSBA Annual Meeting General Assembly on June 11, 2015.
Ms. Diaz-Yaeger was recognized for her work, participation and leadership roles among various organizations, including the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Louisiana (HLAL), the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA), the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) and the Defense Research Institute (DRI). In addition, she served as past president of the HLAL, and has been a member of the LSBA’s conclave subcommittee, as well as a certified LSBA diversity facilitator. Ms. Diaz-Yaeger also serves on the Board of Directors of ASI Federal Credit Union, which facilitates loans of all sizes for transportation, home ownership, business development and education, as well as international microloans. On a national level, Ms. Diaz-Yaeger remains involved with the HNBA, where she has served on its board of governors since 2011, and on the DRI’s Diversity Success Planning Committee since 2011.
