Scott R. Wheaton Jr. was born in Durham, North Carolina, on August 24, 1950. His educational background includes: Phillips Academy (Andover), 1968; an undergraduate degree from Stanford University, 1972; a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia University, 1977; and a Juris Doctorate in Law from Vanderbilt University, 1977. While at Vanderbilt, he was on the Moot Court Board and the Board of Editors of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. He has a working knowledge of Spanish, having spent a year in high school in Barcelona, Spain, and a year at Stanford in Mexico City. Mr. Wheaton is a member of the New Orleans, Louisiana State, New York State, American, and International Bar Associations; Maritime Law Association of the United States; New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel; and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Wheaton is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of Louisiana and New York as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Wheaton practices law in the areas of maritime, personal injury defense, products liability, insurance coverage, domestic and international commerce and litigation. Mr. Wheaton is the liaison between the firm and the international law organization, Lawyers Associated Worldwide (LAW), a network of law firms around the world. Through this organization, the firm is able to secure competent legal representation for its clientele anywhere in the world.
