Charles E. Lugenbuhl was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 13, 1928. He attended public schools in New Orleans and did his undergraduate work at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He received his law degree from Tulane University in 1951. He is a member of the New Orleans and Louisiana State Bar Associations and is a life member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He has been a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1975. In his long career he has engaged in a diversified practice, including maritime and general corporate matters with a particular emphasis on litigation. He is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of Louisiana and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has been a member of the Adjunct Faculty of Tulane Law School since 1973 and is now a full Professor of Law. He has served on the Permanent Advisory Board of the Admiralty Law Institute of Tulane University since 1977 and is now its Vice Chairman. Mr. Lugenbuhl is a member of the Admiralty Law Institute's faculty and has served as its Program and Planning Committee Chairman. He continues to practice in the areas of maritime law, insurance coverage and civil litigation.
