Mr. Guichet's practice is devoted to representing insurance companies in insurance coverage disputes. He is routinely enlisted by clients to handle large, complex insurance coverage matters of all kinds, including first-party property claims, general liability claims, professional liability claims, builder's risk claims, and "bad faith" claims. Most of his matters have involved multi-million dollar losses in the commercial setting, and have included individual claims of more than $300 million. Mr. Guichet also has substantial experience with smaller commercial, homeowner and personal lines claims. Mr. Guichet has successfully handled more than 200 coverage actions in state and federal courts in Louisiana and other states in the South.
Prior to joining Lugenbuhl, Mr. Guichet served from 1996 to 2000 as an Associate Independent Counsel in New Orleans, Louisiana, and in Washington, D.C., in the Independent Counsel investigation of the former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he assisted with nine federal prosecutions and eight appeals, including arguing a case of first impression before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. During two years of law school, he served as a law clerk in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
