Joseph P. Guichet was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 14, 1971. He attended Holy Cross High School in New Orleans and St. John High School in Gulfport, Mississippi. In 1993, he graduated with honors from Loyola University with a degree in History and a minor in Business Administration. He then attended Tulane University School of Law and graduated with honors in 1996. During law school, Mr. Guichet served as a law clerk in the criminal division of the United States Attorneys' Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana. After law school, he accepted a position as Associate Independent Counsel and from 1996 to 2000 assisted with the Independent Counsel investigation of the former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. In this position, Mr. Guichet actively participated in nine federal white-collar prosecutions and eight appeals, including one appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. He also successfully argued a case of first impression before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Mr. Guichet joined the firm in October 2000. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Louisiana and in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and D.C. Circuits. He is also a member of the Louisiana State and American Bar Associations. Mr. Guichet's practice areas include insurance coverage, insurance defense, trial and appellate litigation, and workers' compensation.
